How to choose fresh papaya
- You should choose papayas that have a smooth green skin with a few yellow spots, are shiny, and when pressed, they should have a moderate firmness because this type of papaya is very suitable for making salad due to its crispy and fresh quality.
- Choose fruits that are of moderate size, not too large, elongated in shape, feel heavy in hand, and have a light, natural fragrance.
- Avoid selecting papayas that feel soft and mushy when pressed, show signs of wilting, and are no longer fresh due to being stored for too long, as these fruits will diminish the flavor of the dish when processed.
How to choose fresh and delicious carrots
- You should choose carrots that are bright orange in color, of moderate size (not too large), with a smooth skin, and feel firm when held, not soft or mushy.
- Avoid selecting carrots that are misshapen, have cracked skin, and show signs of bruising or wilting, as these are carrots that have been stored for too long, are no longer fresh, and will not ensure the flavor of the dish when cooked.

Prepare the vegetables
You need to prepare 2 bowls of diluted saltwater to soak the vegetables.
For the carrots, wash them thoroughly with water, trim both ends, and peel off the outer skin, then shred them. After that, place the shredded carrots into 1 bowl of diluted saltwater and soak for about 10 minutes to enhance their crispness.
Also, wash the papaya well with water, peel it, and cut off the stem. Then, you will use 1/2 of the papaya and shred it for the salad.
Next, place the shredded papaya into the second bowl of diluted saltwater and soak for 10 minutes.
Tip:- Before peeling the papaya, use a sharp knife to lightly score the entire length of the fruit to allow the latex inside to drain out, so that when you peel it, it won’t stick to your hands.
