    Place a pot on the stove, add the soaked red beans, 2 liters of water, cover, and cook on medium-low heat for 90 minutes until the beans are soft.

    After 90 minutes, add 200g of rock sugar, 5 pandan leaves, cover tightly, and continue to cook for another 30 minutes.

    Put 50g of grass jelly powder, 120g of white sugar, and 1 liter of water into a bowl, stir well until the sugar dissolves, and let it soak for 10 minutes.

    Next, place a new pot on the stove, pour the grass jelly mixture in, and stir evenly over medium-low heat until the mixture boils and thickens, then turn off the heat.

    Next, pour the jelly mixture into molds and let it cool to set. After that, use a knife to cut the jelly into small bite-sized pieces.

    Put 200g of diced taro into a bowl along with 100g of tapioca flour and mix until the taro is evenly coated with the flour.

    Place a pot on the stove. Then, add 200ml of boiling water and 20gr of sago flour, and cook for about 15 minutes. When it boils, turn off the heat and rinse the sago with cold water.

    Turn off the heat and let the mixture cool.

  • Prepare the red beans

    Soak the red beans in water for 8 hours to soften, then rinse thoroughly with water.

    Place a pot on the stove, add the soaked red beans and pour in enough water to cover the beans by about 3 finger widths. Cook the beans over high heat until the water boils.

    Next, add a little salt to the pot and continue to cook for about 1 hour over low heat.

    Finally, pour the bean mixture through a strainer to remove the cooking water.

    Tip: After 1 hour of cooking, you can take a bean and crush it in your hand to check if it has reached the desired softness. If you want it softer, you can cook it for another 10 – 15 minutes!

    Add 50g of jelly powder, 1.2 liters of water, and 120g of sugar into a pot, stir to dissolve the sugar, and soak the mixture for 10 minutes.

    After 10 minutes, stir the jelly over medium heat until the mixture thickens, and when it feels heavy, reduce the heat.

    Next, add a little salt and continue stirring for another 10 minutes to finish.

    Tip: To make the jelly clearer and more beautiful, remember to skim off the foam while cooking!

    Scoop the jelly mixture into a bowl and let it cool to set at room temperature.

    After 20 minutes, add 400ml of water to the pot and continue to cook until the water is nearly gone and the beans are soft.

    Tip:

    • The red beans will harden when in contact with sugar or cold ice, so at this step, you need to add more water to soften the beans.
    • You can add water multiple times until the beans reach the desired softness!
