  • Additionally, when pressing with your hand, the beef tendons should feel firm and elastic, not too soft or slimy.
  • You should avoid buying beef tendons that are yellow and emit a strong foul smell, as these are spoiled tendons that can affect your health.

How to choose fresh and delicious carrots

  • Fresh and delicious carrots are those with bright orange color, with no unusual black spots appearing on the surface.
  • When pressing with your hand, the carrots should feel firm and noticeably sturdy, with no scratches or excessive softness.
  • You should limit buying carrots with broken tops, no longer fresh and green, especially if they are oozing juice, as these are spoiled carrots that should not be eaten.

How to Prepare Braised Beef Tendons with Five Spices

  • Prepare the beef tendons

    First, with 1kg of beef tendons bought, wash them with 2 tablespoons of vinegar diluted in water for 3 – 5 minutes, then rinse with clean water and let drain. After that, use a knife to cut the beef tendons into bite-sized pieces.

    • Method 2: You can use mashed ginger that has been roasted and rub it all over the meat for a few minutes.

    Remove the roots from the green onions and wash them along with a stalk of leeks. You can tie them neatly or cut them into pieces, and chop the leeks into small pieces.

    Place a pot on the stove with 1 liter of water, then add all the prepared beef tendons, green onions, a slice of ginger, and a bowl of cooking wine (the same size as a rice bowl), blanch for about 5 – 7 minutes over high heat.

    When you see the beef tendons firming up, turn off the heat, remove the beef tendons and place them in a bowl of cold water to soak for 3 minutes, then rinse again with clean water and let drain.

  • Marinate the beef tendon

    Next, take a new pot and add all the beef tendon that has just been briefly blanched, the remaining 2 slices of ginger, 10g of dried chili, 1 pack of beef stew seasoning, 1/2 can of beer, and 1/2 cup of water (rice bowl).

    After marinating the beef tendon, place that pot on the stove and simmer on low heat for about 50 minutes. When the water starts boiling, add 1 carrot cut into pieces and continue simmering for another 10 minutes.

    Finally, when all the ingredients are tender, season to taste, then turn off the heat and serve in a bowl to enjoy!
