Mackerel 250 gr (choose small ones for better steaming) Fresh chili 2 pieces Shallots 2 bulbs Green onions 3 stalks Cooking oil 1 tablespoon Fish sauce a little Rice paper 10 pieces Common spices a little (salt/ pepper/ seasoning powder/ sugar) Fresh herbs 300 gr (basil/ lettuce/ aromatic herbs/ cilantro/ water spinach/ cucumber/ green bananas)

How to choose fresh and delicious mackerel

  • Choose mackerel with clear eyes, bright red gills, and closed mouth.
  • It is advisable to buy fish that still has a firm texture when pressed, not mushy.
  • Do not choose mackerel if you see the eyes are cloudy or the gills have turned dark red.

How to make steamed mackerel wrapped in rice paper

  • Prepare the ingredients

    Wash the chili and green onions with water. Separate the green onion into the white part and the green leaves.

    Peel the red onions, wash them clean, and let them dry. Wash the cucumber and green bananas, then slice them thinly.

    Wash the lettuce several times with water until clean, removing any wilted or yellowed leaves. Wash the herbs and let them dry.

    Clean the mackerel, remove the scales, guts, and gills, then rub it with salt and rinse it with clean water.
