Ingredients for Steamed Pumpkin Cake For 4 people

Rice 400 gr Pumpkin 1 piece (300gr) Chicken eggs 2 pieces Sugar 1 tablespoon Instant yeast 1 teaspoon Unsalted butter 1 teaspoon (melted) Raisins a little (or golden raisins/dates)

How to choose delicious pumpkin

  • Good pumpkins usually have an orange-yellow color, mixed with dark green, yellow flesh, and a sweet, fragrant taste with a relatively sticky texture.
  • Choose heavy, firm pumpkins with smooth skin.
  • Choose those with a stem length of 2 – 5cm. Pumpkins with short stems tend to rot faster.
  • Round-shaped pumpkins that are naturally cut into relatively even parts.

How to make Steamed Pumpkin Cake

  • Wash and soak the rice

    Wash 400g of rice thoroughly and soak in water for 6 hours.

  • Mix the rice

    After soaking, drain the rice, then place it in a bowl, add 2 eggs and 1 tablespoon of sugar, and mix well.

  • Making pumpkin dough

    Peel the pumpkin, remove the seeds, and cut it into pieces. Then, put the pumpkin into the blender along with the rice mixture and blend until smooth.

    Next, transfer the dough to a bowl and stir well with 1 teaspoon of instant yeast.

    Finally, cover the bowl of dough tightly with plastic wrap and let it rise for 2 – 3 hours.

    Tip:

    • If you do not use instant dry yeast, you need to activate the yeast with warm water or milk at 32 – 38 degrees Celsius (not exceeding 40 degrees Celsius), stir well and let it sit for 5 – 10 minutes until the yeast expands and forms a foam like crab bricks. Do not let it get hotter as it will kill the yeast or weaken its activity).
    • If using instant yeast, it is advisable to use golden instant yeast for rich and sweet breads.

  • Pouring into the mold

    Stir the dough mixture until smooth, then pour it into the mold that has been greased with a layer of unsalted butter.

    Next, sprinkle a little raisins on top of the cake.

    Place the cake mold in the steamer, put the steamer over boiling water, cover tightly, and steam for 30 minutes.

    After the cake is cooked, take the mold out of the pot and let it cool completely.

    Next, use a knife to carefully remove the cake from the mold to finish.
