How to Choose Fresh and Delicious Strawberries
- Good strawberries will have a distinct, mild fragrance when smelled. Overripe or chemically treated strawberries usually have a faint smell or no scent at all.
- Sweet ripe strawberries will have a bright red color, uniform color, and be plump with juice. Avoid buying those that are unevenly colored.
- Fresh delicious strawberries have bright green caps tightly attached to the fruit; avoid choosing those that are yellowing or have lost their caps.
- It is advisable to choose strawberries with caps far from the fruit body as they are usually very sweet.
- Avoid buying strawberries that have strange spots or black spots on the fruit. Also, when touched, avoid soft and mushy strawberries as they may be bruised or spoiled.
