How to choose fresh lotus seeds

  • Fresh lotus seeds should be round, uniform, about the size of half a finger joint, and have a white color with a slight yellowish tint.
  • You can check by pressing your finger into the lotus seed; if it still releases a little water when pressed, then it is fresh lotus seed.
  • Avoid choosing lotus seeds that are bruised or have wrinkled outer shells. Additionally, do not select lotus seeds that are wet as they will easily bruise and wilt quickly.

How to choose delicious red-fleshed dragon fruit

  • Red-fleshed dragon fruit usually has thinner and darker skin compared to white-fleshed dragon fruit, so be careful to avoid buying the wrong type. To choose good red dragon fruit, select those that are round in shape, firm in texture, and have smooth skin with few bumps; these fruits will be juicy and sweet when ripe.
  • Choose fruits with soft ears that are not too hard or withered. Dragon fruit with beautiful, firm ears has usually been treated with growth hormones. Additionally, you should check the stem of the dragon fruit; if it feels brittle and breaks easily when touched, it indicates that the dragon fruit is overripe.
  • Good red-fleshed dragon fruit has a strong aroma and is sweeter compared to white-fleshed dragon fruit. Avoid purchasing fruits with a fermented smell or any strange odors.

  • Prepare the ingredients

    Remove the core from fresh lotus seeds, wash them clean, and let them drain.

    Wash the pandan leaves, take one leaf to tie all the other leaves together into a bundle.

    Peel the red-fleshed dragon fruit, cut it into small cubes of about 1 cm, and then marinate the dragon fruit with granulated sugar.
