Sweet and Sour Fish Soup

Sweet and sour soup is a familiar dish for Vietnamese people, with simple and easy-to-prepare ingredients such as pineapple, bean sprouts, okra, tomatoes, mint,… cooked with various types of fish like red tilapia, snakehead fish,…

This soup has a rich sweet flavor and a sour taste that is very suitable for the Vietnamese palate, serving as a dish to reduce appetite as well as detoxify the body after a nourishing Tết for the family.

Vegetable Soup

To detoxify the body after Tet, vegetable soups are an essential choice as they are diverse, gentle, cooling, and highly nutritious, easy to eat, and especially beneficial for digestion.

Common vegetables that can be cooked with shrimp, clams, or minced meat include amaranth, spinach, and mustard greens. Additionally, you can enrich the dish with other vegetables like carrots, potatoes, and beets. This is certainly an effective dish to cool down after Tet.

Various Salads

If soups are cooked, salads can be eaten right after mixing. This is a favorite dish for most women as salads not only help to avoid boredom during Tet but also provide many nutrients that help with skin beauty, weight loss, and maintaining body shape effectively.

The dressing can be homemade or store-bought; just mix it well to enjoy. The taste of the dressing is slightly sour and sweet, combined with vegetables, which is very stimulating to the palate and does not cause boredom.

Sour Hot Pot

Preparation is not too complicated, including the hot pot broth, hot pot vegetables, and seafood such as shrimp, squid, octopus, clams, fish balls, and sliced beef.

The broth has a perfect balance of sour, spicy, salty, and sweet flavors, along with the light taste of bone broth. Served with vermicelli or egg noodles, with many ingredients harmoniously blended, the sour and spicy seafood hot pot is the best choice for family and friends gatherings.

Soupy Pho

Pho has a rich flavor from the broth, a very light sweetness, and a fragrant aroma, with soft pho noodles. Don’t forget to add a bit of protein for complete nutrition, which can be rare beef, brisket, or chicken pho, both delicious and light, blending flavors with various herbs and bean sprouts.

This dish is an excellent choice to relieve boredom after Tet, so let’s make it right away for the whole family to enjoy!

Snail Vermicelli

The soul of snail vermicelli lies in the broth known as sweet and cool snail soup, with a gentle aroma, moderate saltiness, the fragrant smell of ginger, and a hint of spiciness from chili.

Adding just the right amount of fresh, soft, and chewy vermicelli along with aromatic herbs is essential for snail vermicelli to truly reach its peak deliciousness. A bowl of crunchy and sweet snail vermicelli effectively rescues the taste buds after Tet.

2 Desserts and snacks

Bò bía

Bò bía consists of two types: savory and sweet. The sweet bò bía has a filling of shredded coconut, honey candy, and condensed milk, while the savory bò bía contains ingredients like Chinese sausage, dried shrimp, lettuce, jicama, and various herbs, which are more popular.

Each roll is dipped in a mixture of chili sauce with fried onions and peanuts, creating a delicate flavor, making bò bía an excellent snack to enjoy in the days after Tet.

Steamed rice cakes

Steamed rice cakes are a rustic delicacy, rich, sweet, and aromatic, appealing to the taste buds after days of eating fatty meat and sticky rice cakes during Tet.

The ingredients are familiar, made from rice flour, with a special filling of shrimp and an essential dipping sauce that creates a balanced flavor. The cakes are steamed in small bowls, and with their delicious taste, this specialty from Hue can make you want to eat ten bowls to truly satisfy your palate.

Plain porridge

Plain porridge is perhaps the simplest dish after Tet that anyone can prepare.

Porridge has the advantage of being light, easy to eat, and a bowl of plain porridge cooked with minced meat and mung beans ensures nutrition for a meal. It is suitable for breakfast; a hot bowl of porridge can help the body sweat and relieve colds.

Fresh spring rolls

Fresh spring rolls are an appealing dish after Tet, often chosen because they can be filling, combining many ingredients, and are nutritious with a roll that includes greens, boiled meat, shrimp, pig’s ears, chives, and noodles.

The dipping sauce is also an important part; a good dipping sauce makes fresh spring rolls not only enjoyable but also a favorite dish after Tet, perfect for eating with family and friends while rolling and chatting.

Pork rice paper rolls

The main ingredient is boiled pork, usually tender, sweet, and fatty pork belly. The vegetables are the main ingredient that doesn’t make you feel full, including fresh herbs, plus carrots, pineapple, and cucumber cut into small long pieces to be wrapped in dew-dried rice paper.

In the South, there are also bilimbi leaves, sour tamarind shoots, young mango leaves, sour starfruit, and green bananas served alongside, creating a deliciously tangy flavor on the tongue. This dish is best enjoyed when dipped in fermented fish sauce, and a little bit of spicy chili makes it perfect for a family meal after Tet.

3 Types of drinks

Orange juice, lemon juice

Orange juice and lemon juice are extremely rich in vitamins and antioxidants that are beneficial for health. Drinking a glass each day will provide you with a generous amount of Vitamin C.

This amount of Vitamin C helps combat oxidative processes in the body, boosts immunity, and helps detoxify the body. This is an excellent drink for cleansing the body after Tet!

Coconut water

According to traditional medicine, coconut water has a cooling property, helping to relieve heat, cool down, and prevent dehydration during hot days. Besides its thirst-quenching function, coconut water also provides many nutrients for the body.

After consuming oily dishes like square sticky rice cake, braised pork, etc., during Tet, you should drink a glass of coconut water to cleanse the body and support better digestive function.

Coconut water

Fruit Juices

Various types of juices such as grapefruit, passion fruit, watermelon… not only help quench your thirst but also provide you with a rich source of vitamins. Drinking fruit juice helps detoxify the body, combat aging, and effectively boost immunity.

After Tet, increasing your intake of these juices will help you quickly regain your figure!

Fruit juice

Green Tea

Drinking a cup of tea in the morning will help you feel much more relaxed and energized.

Green tea is also very beneficial for the digestive system, effectively detoxifies, and can prevent certain diseases such as high blood fat and increased cholesterol levels caused by alcohol and greasy foods. This is a suitable drink for detoxing and cleansing the body after Tet!

But remember not to drink it at night, as it may cause insomnia.

Black and Green Bean Water

These types of beans are effective in cooling the body, detoxifying, and beautifying the skin. Not only used for making desserts, black and green beans can also be used to brew drinks.

Using bean water 2 to 3 times a week will help you cleanse your body after a Tet holiday filled with fried and oily foods.
