How to prepare Whole Green Bean Sticky Rice

  • Prepare the beans and sticky rice

    You add 1 teaspoon of baking soda (baking powder) to 200g of green beans, then add enough water to cover the beans and soak for 2 hours.

    For the sticky rice, you add 2 teaspoons of salt and add enough water to cover the rice, and soak for 2 – 3 hours.

    After 2 hours, you drain the water from both the beans and the rice, then rinse both ingredients and let them dry.

    Tip: To help the green beans swell and soften quickly when cooking, you should soak them with baking soda instead of regular salt!

  • Cook the sticky rice

    When the sticky rice and beans are dry, you mix the two ingredients together with 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Then, you put the mixture into the rice cooker with 300ml of water and start cooking.

    You press the “COOK” button and cook the sticky rice for 15 minutes, when the rice cooker switches to the “WARM” button, you open the lid and fluff the sticky rice.

    Tip: To make the sticky rice more fragrant and prevent it from burning or sticking to the bottom of the rice cooker while cooking, you can use pandan leaves to line the bottom of the pot!

  • Make sesame salt

    Add 2 teaspoons of sugar, 2 teaspoons of sesame, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt, then mix the mixture well.

    Tip: If you like, you can add crushed roasted peanuts to enhance the aroma and richness of the sesame salt.
