How to choose fresh and delicious chicken wings
- To make grilled chicken wings, choose industrial chicken wings that will have more meat, larger than local chicken wings.
- Choose wings that have a natural light yellow color, press them to feel firm and elastic meat.
- Do not buy wings with bruises, blood clots, uneven color, bad smell, or soft and mushy meat.
- The fresh wing meat should be clear; if it appears dark, it may indicate that the chicken died before being slaughtered.

How to Prepare Honey Grilled Chicken Wings
-
Prepare the chicken wings
Rinse the chicken wings with cold water. Next, pour 2 liters of hot water at about 70 degrees Celsius into a basin, and dissolve 2 tablespoons of salt in it.
Soak the chicken wings in the hot salted water for about 5 minutes, then use a knife to scrape off any dirt, grease, or residue on the chicken skin. After that, rinse with clean water and let it drain.
Tips for cleaning chicken wings and eliminating odor:- After rubbing with salt, you can use a mixture of rice wine and sliced ginger, lightly pounding and rubbing the entire chicken wing once again, to help eliminate odors and dirt completely.
- Wash thoroughly and let it drain. Additionally, you can also add lemon to the water and soak the chicken wings for 15 – 20 minutes. After that, take them out, rinse with cold water, and let them drain.
-
Marinate the chicken wings
In a bowl, mix together the ingredients including: 2 tablespoons of chili sauce, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, 1/2 tablespoon of oyster sauce, 2/3 teaspoon of garlic powder, 2/3 teaspoon of ginger powder, 1 tablespoon of honey, 1/2 tablespoon of sesame oil, and 1/4 teaspoon of seasoning.
Put the chicken in a large bowl, mix well with the prepared sauce, and marinate the chicken for about 1 hour for the wings to absorb the flavors.
Tip: If you don’t have enough time to marinate the chicken wings, you can use a sharp skewer to poke the skin of the chicken, making it easier for the chicken to absorb the spices, thus reducing the marinating time to about 20 minutes. -
Grilling chicken wings
Method 1: Grilling chicken wings in the oven
Preheat the oven for 10 minutes at 210 degrees Celsius to stabilize the temperature.
Arrange the chicken wings on a tray and place them in the oven for 20 minutes at 200 degrees Celsius.
Take the leftover marinade out and mix it with 1 tablespoon of honey in a bowl. After 20 minutes, open the oven and brush half of this mixture evenly over the chicken wings, then continue to grill for another 5 minutes.
After 10 minutes, open the oven, flip the chicken wings over, brush the remaining marinade on top, close the oven door, select the upper heat mode, and grill for another 5 minutes to finish.
Method 2: Grilling chicken wings in an air fryer
Place the chicken wings on the rack, put them in the air fryer, and grill at 180 degrees Celsius for about 5 minutes.
After 5 minutes, take the tray out, brush the marinade on the surface of the wings, and continue to grill for another 5 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius.
You can take the chicken wings out, brush the marinade again, and grill for another 5 minutes.
Since the air fryer is sealed and you cannot observe the grilling process, you should check the time every 5 minutes and grill multiple times to prevent the wings from burning. After that, depending on the doneness of the wings, you can reduce the grilling time and temperature accordingly.
