How to Choose Fresh and Delicious Pumpkin
- Typically, fresh and delicious pumpkins will have a bright green or dark brown skin, with no unusual dark spots on the surface.
- Choose pumpkins that feel heavy when lifted, not too light, and feel firm when pressed, without too many bruises.
- Additionally, pumpkins with a stem length of about 2 little fingers will last longer when stored.
- Avoid buying pumpkins that have uneven size and weight, as this is a sign that the pumpkin is hollow, and the dish will not be delicious.
Where to buy udon noodles and dashi powder?
- You can easily find udon noodles and dashi powder at supermarkets or stores that specialize in Japanese food.
- Additionally, for more convenience, you can also visit e-commerce websites to place orders! However, make sure to choose reputable and clear brands to avoid accidentally buying low-quality products.

Prepare the pumpkin

-
Steaming pumpkin
After preparing the pumpkin, place a pot on the stove with 300ml of water. Then, place the steaming rack and the prepared pumpkin bowl into it, and steam on high heat for about 10 minutes.
When you see the water boiling, reduce the heat to medium and continue steaming for another 15 minutes, until the pumpkin is soft, then turn off the heat and remove the bowl from the pot.
-
Boiling Udon noodles
Place another pot on the stove with 200ml of water and 20gr of udon noodles, and boil on high heat for about 7 minutes.
When the water boils, reduce the heat to medium and continue boiling for another 5 minutes, until the noodles are soft and puffed up, then turn off the heat and use a sieve to drain the water.
-
Completion
You take a bowl and add 2 tablespoons of dashi powder along with 300ml of warm water, using a spoon to mix well until the powder is dissolved.
