How to cook Water morning glory soup with meat

  • Prepare the ingredients

    After picking the water morning glory from the garden or after buying it, you should remove the old leaves and cut off half of the tips. Then, rinse the vegetables with water to remove any dirt.

    For the pork belly, rub it with some salt to remove the fishy smell, then wash it clean. Slice the meat into thin pieces.

    Peel the garlic, crush it or chop it finely as desired.

  • Cook the vegetable soup

    You place a pot on the stove, wait for it to heat up, then add 1 tablespoon of cooking oil. When the oil is hot, add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, then add the pork and stir-fry briefly until it is firm.

    Next, you season the pot with 1 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of seasoning powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of sugar, then continue to stir the meat a few more times before adding 1 liter of water to the pot.

    You cook for about 15 minutes until the meat is done, remember to skim off the foam to keep the soup clear and make it look more appealing. After the meat is cooked, add the vegetable into the pot, stirring until the vegetables are evenly cooked.

    You simmer until the soup boils again, then adjust the seasoning to taste and add chopped green onions before turning off the heat.

    Tip: Before adding the vegetable to the soup, you can crush it a little; this will help the soup become sweeter, and the vegetable will be softer, eliminating any gritty feeling while eating.

  • Prepare the ingredients

    Fresh shrimp should be bought, with the heads removed, peeled, and the intestinal vein taken out, then washed thoroughly and allowed to drain. Marinate the shrimp with 1 teaspoon of fish sauce, 1/2 teaspoon of monosodium glutamate, and a pinch of salt.

    The water spinach can be trimmed of excess leaves or left whole, washed several times with water to remove dirt.
