How to choose fresh ingredients
How to choose fresh beef
Instead of buying pre-ground beef at the market or store, you can buy beef to prepare at home and grind it yourself with a meat grinder if you like!
- You should choose meat that is bright red, with yellow fat and white veins; when pressed, it feels firm, and it has the characteristic smell of beef.
- Choose meat with fine and small fibers; when pressed with your hand, it should spring back. Avoid meat with large fibers, dark red color, and dark yellow fat.
- Absolutely do not choose meat that is pale green, with round white spots on the fibers, strange smells, slimy texture, or that leaves an indentation when pressed.
How to choose fresh and delicious carrots
- Choose those with a slim, moderate shape, still having the leaf stem, and when held, they feel firm, not too soft. Avoid choosing carrots that are bruised, have cracks, or are missing a corner.
- Choose carrots with an intact outer skin, smooth, not rough, and without black spots.
- Select carrots that have an even orange color; avoid overly dark ones, which may be due to pesticide spraying.
How to choose fresh and delicious broccoli
- You should choose broccoli with a round bud because it will taste better and sweeter than flat buds.
- Additionally, the buds should be dark green and evenly colored, without yellowing. The stem should be firm, crisp, and free from insect damage or bruises.
How to choose tasty oats
- You should choose whole oats, which are usually coarse grains, not broken.
- Choose oats from reputable establishments and brands with reliable origins.

Prepare and marinate beef
You put the ground beef in a bowl with 1/2 teaspoon of seasoning, 1/4 teaspoon of monosodium glutamate, 1 teaspoon of olive oil, 1 teaspoon of minced garlic and onion, and 1 tablespoon of cold water, then mix well and marinate for 15 minutes.
Tip: To make the beef fluffy and absorb the seasoning, remember to add cold water and mix the beef well! -
Stir-fry the beef
You add 1 teaspoon of olive oil to the pan, when the oil is hot, add the remaining minced garlic and onion and sauté until fragrant. To prevent the beef from becoming tough, add the beef to the pan and stir-fry on high heat for only 1 – 2 minutes!
-
Cook the porridge
You put the broth on the stove, when the water boils, add the carrots and broccoli to cook for 5 minutes until the water boils again. You season with 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1/4 teaspoon of monosodium glutamate, 1 teaspoon of seasoning powder, then add the beef. Finally, add the oats, stir well, and cook for another 5 minutes.
In addition to the above seasoning, you can adjust it to your family’s taste for a more flavorful dish!
-
Final product
You serve the porridge in a bowl, add cheese, and sprinkle chopped onions and cilantro on top, and it’s ready to enjoy. The warm oatmeal porridge, tender and fragrant beef, paired with light creamy cheese, is not only a delicious dish but also helps keep your body healthy.
Tips for successful execution
- To avoid getting tired of eating, you should choose rolled oats instead of ground oats.
- When cooking porridge, you should adjust the amount of water to be just right, not too thick or too runny.
- For rolled oats, the ratio is 1 part oats: 5 parts water.
- For instant oats or broken oats, the recommended ratio is 1 part oats: 2 parts water.
It doesn’t take much time, the hot beef oatmeal porridge is ready to serve you and your family. Wishing you success right from your first attempt!
