Tools Needed
How to Make Black Bean Ice Cream
-
Wash and Soak the Beans
First, wash 200g of black beans with water to remove dirt, then place the beans in a basin and soak them in clean water for about 8 – 9 hours or overnight to allow them to expand.
After that, take the black beans out, rinse them with clean water again, and then place them in a colander to drain.
-
Simmer the Black Beans
You can place the black beans in a pot, then pour enough water to cover the beans and simmer for 1 hour. Remember not to cover the pot tightly so that when the water boils, the foam doesn’t overflow.
Next, add 2 large ice cubes to the pot with the black beans and continue to simmer until the water boils again. Once the black beans are cooked soft, cover the pot tightly for another 2 hours to make the beans tender.
After 2 hours, when the beans are soft and cooled, add 1 vanilla pod to the pot and gently stir with a spoon to dissolve the vanilla.
-
Blend the creamy black bean mixture
You use a sieve to separate the beans into one bowl and pour the bean cooking water into another bowl.
Add 200g of sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 2/3 (about 140g) of the creamy powder into the bean cooking water bowl, then stir until the mixture dissolves. You can adjust the amount of sugar according to your family’s taste.
Next, put all the beans into a blender, pour a little of the bean water mixture into the blender to make it easier to blend the beans. Blend until the beans are smooth and fine.
Then, pour the bean water mixture into the blender and use a spoon to stir vigorously until the mixture starts to froth.
Add 50ml of hot water to a bowl containing the remaining 1/3 of the creamy powder and stir until the powder dissolves.
-
Pouring into molds and freezing
Slowly pour the creamy black bean mixture into the ice cream molds or food containers.
Next, evenly drizzle the whipped cream mixture on top, then place it in the freezer refrigerator for about 4 – 5 hours, and then you can enjoy it.
-
Completion
After the ice cream has frozen, you can use a spoon or ice cream scoop to take out a suitable amount of ice cream into a cup or bowl, then sprinkle some peanuts and colorful candy on top for a more delicious and visually appealing treat.
-
Final Product
So you have a refreshing, nutritious black bean ice cream to enjoy right at home.
The ice cream is smooth and melts in your mouth, blending the fragrant sweetness and rich flavor of black beans and creamy ice cream, eaten together with peanuts and crispy candy, making the ice cream even more flavorful and irresistibly attractive.
