How to choose fresh and delicious carrots

  • Delicious carrots will have a bright orange color; choose those with a moderate size because if they are too large, they are old carrots, while if too small (except for mini carrots), they are immature carrots without the characteristic flavor.
  • Observe the carrot leaf stems; the greener the stem, the fresher the carrot, as it has just been harvested; conversely, a less green stem indicates that the carrot has been stored for a while and is less fresh.
  • Do not buy carrots that feel slightly soft when pressed; these are withered carrots, and they will not taste good when cooked.

  • Fresh and delicious oyster mushrooms will have a white or gray stem, a large, sturdy cap, and bright colors.
  • You should choose oyster mushrooms that grow in clusters, with fine, smooth fibers on the underside of the cap, as these are fresh and recently harvested mushrooms.
  • When smelling fresh oyster mushrooms, you will notice the characteristic aroma of mushrooms; they should feel firm to the touch.
  • It is best to buy packaged oyster mushrooms with careful packaging, clearly printed origin, and information such as production date and expiration date.
  • Do not buy oyster mushrooms if you see them leaking water, slimy, bruised, or having an unusual smell, as these are spoiled mushrooms and cannot be used.

How to choose fresh and delicious green beans (string beans)

  • You should choose those with green stems, looking fresh, with no black spots or uneven colors.
  • Good green beans will have a long, flat shape without bulging. If there are many bumps, it means the beans inside are large and the beans are old, which will not taste good.
  • Do not choose green beans that look too attractive, such as shiny, smooth, with little fuzz, and not infested or clearly burned. Because they may have been sprayed with a lot of pesticides, and the remaining residue is extremely unhealthy.

How to choose fresh and delicious pork

  • Fresh and delicious pork is characterized by pink-red pieces, fresh appearance, and a dry surface.
  • You can also check the freshness of the meat by pressing it with your finger; if it springs back to its original shape when you remove your finger, you should buy it.
  • Avoid purchasing pieces with greenish-purple spots on the surface, and those that have an unusual foul smell.
