Ingredients for Young Coconut Jelly For 4 people

Fresh coconut water 500 ml (or 2 fresh coconuts) Young coconut meat 1 cup (rice bowl) Jelly powder 1 packet (12gr) Sugar 100 gr Filtered water 200 ml

How to choose fresh and delicious coconuts

  • To choose good fresh coconuts, first you should select those with a moderate size, with bright green skin, a green and flexible stem.
  • For fresh, young coconuts, when you gently shake them, you can hear the water inside very clearly. Additionally, you should prioritize buying coconuts that are still in bunches and have not been peeled to avoid purchasing coconuts treated with chemicals!
  • Avoid buying coconuts with brownish-yellow skin and dry stems as these are signs that the coconuts have been stored for too long and are old.

  • Prepare fresh coconut

    If using a whole coconut, first you will chop off the top of the coconut and pour the water into a pot. Next, cut the coconut in half and use a spoon to scrape out the coconut meat, then use a knife to cut it into small strips.

  • Cook the coconut jelly strips

    Add fresh coconut water into the pot, along with 200ml of plain water, 100gr of sugar, and 1 packet of jelly powder (12gr), then use a ladle to stir well until the sugar is completely dissolved. Depending on your taste, you can adjust the amount of sugar as needed!

    Next, place the pot on the stove and bring it to a boil over medium heat. While cooking, stir frequently to ensure that the jelly powder dissolves completely and to prevent the mixture from thickening.

    After about 10 minutes of cooking, when the jelly mixture starts boiling, use a ladle to skim off the froth on top to make the jelly clearer and prevent it from being porous.

    Finally, add all the shredded young coconut into the pot and cook for about 1 more minute, then turn off the heat.

  • Pour the jelly into the mold

    While the jelly mixture is still warm, scoop the jelly into the mold or bowl that has been prepared. Wait about 15 – 20 minutes for the jelly to cool down, then place it in the refrigerator refrigerator for 1 – 2 hours.
