What is black tea?
- Black tea, also known as red tea, is a type of tea familiar to many and famous worldwide for its fragrant aroma and distinctive flavor, not to be confused with other types of tea.
- After brewing, black tea has a dark yellow, orange-red to reddish-brown color depending on the brewing time. When drinking, one can feel the light fragrant taste combined with a slight astringency, and it is generally suitable for the majority of Vietnamese tastes.
- Currently, there are many different types of black tea with quality ranging from common to high-end, primarily produced in several countries such as: China, Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka, and Kenya.

How to make Hokkaido milk tea

Steep and filter the tea
Add 15g of black tea and 500ml of boiling water into a teapot and steep for 13 minutes until the tea is fully extracted. Then use a filter to remove the tea leaves, resulting in 450ml of tea extract.

Stir the tea with the milk cream powder mixture
Add 30g of Hokkaido milk powder (or cream milk powder), 30ml of caramel syrup, 10ml of sugar syrup, 15ml of heavy cream, and 150ml of tea extract into a glass and use a spoon to stir until the milk powder dissolves.

Whip the Hokkaido milk tea foam
After stirring the milk powder until it dissolves, put it into a frothing machine and whip at a low speed for about 3 minutes until the milk tea has a lot of foam, then stop.
Tip: If you don’t have a frothing machine, you can use a hand mixer with a whisk on low speed or a cocktail shaker as well. -
Completion
After frothing the milk tea, add about 6 – 8 ice cubes and stir well for about 3 minutes until the milk tea cools down. Then take a glass, add about 1 tablespoon of tapioca pearls and pour in the stirred milk tea along with the ice.
If the milk tea doesn’t fill the glass, you can add the stirred ice cubes into the glass and we can invite everyone to enjoy it!
