How to choose fresh and delicious tuna

For fresh tuna

  • You should choose fish with sparkling, clear eyes where the pupil is clearly visible, and gills that are bright red. If the gills are dark red or even brownish-black, it indicates that the fish is no longer fresh.
  • Additionally, you can differentiate between fresh and spoiled fish by pressing on the belly of the fish. If the fish is resilient and does not indent when pressed, it is fresh.
  • Do not choose fish with sunken eyes because these fish have been frozen for a long time and have undergone extensive transportation, which means the flesh will no longer be fresh.

For frozen tuna

  • When purchasing, you should select fish with undamaged packaging. It is best to buy seafood with a shelf life of within one month from the catch date.
  • It is advisable to buy tuna from supermarkets or stores that have proper storage conditions and deep freezing facilities to retain its original nutrients.
  • Avoid selecting pieces of fish with a thick layer of ice because they may have been stored for too long or have been thawed and refrozen again.

  • Prepare the ocean tuna

    Soak the ocean tuna fillet in a diluted white wine mixture for about 5 minutes, then remove, rinse with clean water, and cut into thin, bite-sized pieces.

    How to remove the fishy smell from tuna
    • Method 1: Soak the fish in diluted salt water for about 5 – 10 minutes, then rinse with clean water.
    • Method 2: Cut the fish into bite-sized pieces and soak in rice water for about 15 – 20 minutes. Then remove and rinse thoroughly with water.
    • Method 3: Add a few smashed ginger slices to the fish and soak for about 5 minutes, then rinse with clean water.

    • Method 2: Preheat an air fryer at 160 degrees Celsius for 3 minutes to stabilize the heat, then add the peanuts, cover the fryer, and fry for about 8 minutes.
