How to choose good chestnuts

  • Fresh chestnuts usually have a brown or reddish-brown color, very shiny, not discolored and without black spots, with a red tip on top.
  • The surface of fresh chestnuts has many fine hairs, which can help identify whether the chestnuts are fresh; the more hairs, the fresher they are.
  • Avoid choosing chestnuts that have lost all their fine hairs, have a relatively dull color, and are not shiny. Chestnuts with holes indicate that they have been eaten by worms or insects.
