How to Make Peanut Milk
-
Roast the peanuts and remove the skins
First, roast the peanuts over low heat for 8 – 15 minutes until you hear the shells cracking, then stir quickly to prevent burning.
Roast until the peanut shells turn a brownish-yellow color, then turn off the heat and continue stirring on the heatless stove for 2 – 3 minutes.
After roasting, let them cool a bit and then remove the peanut skins.
-
Blend the beans
After the beans are peeled clean, put the beans and 1 – 2 chopped pandan leaves into the blender, add water, and blend until smooth.
Once blended, strain the mixture through a cloth and squeeze hard to remove any residue and bean pulp.
Tip:- Divide the peanuts and water to blend 2 – 3 times, to avoid burning the blender by putting all the peanuts in at once.
- For 300 grams of peanuts, the total amount of water you should add for blending is 2.25 liters.
- You can strain the milk through the cloth an additional 1 – 2 times for a creamy, smooth texture without any grittiness when drinking.
-
Cook the mixture
You tie 2 – 3 pandan leaves into a bundle and add them to the milk pot for a fragrant milk.
You cook the milk for 15 – 20 minutes on low heat, then add 1 tablespoon of condensed milk and stir well.
Next, you add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and 70g of rock sugar, then stir continuously to dissolve the sugar quickly.
Tip:- To prevent the milk from separating and forming sediment at the bottom of the pot, make sure to stir continuously and evenly while cooking the milk.
- If you are not used to the smell of fresh pandan leaves, you can put them in the refrigerator for 1 – 2 days before cooking to reduce the strong aroma of the leaves.
The peanut milk after cooking for 20 minutes, you turn off the heat and remove the pandan leaves.
You can let the milk cool or put it in the refrigerator if you want to drink it cold.
