How to choose fresh ingredients
How to choose fresh, good beef
- Choose pieces of beef that have a bright red color interspersed with white fat and the fat part should be bright yellow.
- Choose pieces of meat that when you press lightly with your hand, will have good firmness and elasticity, not sticky and without any unpleasant or abnormal odor.
- Avoid buying pieces of beef that are pale green or dark red, with dark yellow fat, have white spots on the meat, and feel mushy and slimy when touched.
How to choose fresh, delicious grapes
- Choose grapes that are of medium size, not too big, slightly soft, with a smooth, shiny skin and no bruises. Additionally, fresh and delicious grapes will have a powdery layer on the skin.
- Avoid selecting grapes that show signs of being mushy or have speckles on the skin, as these may be grapes that have been affected by pests or soaked in chemicals.

Prepare the ingredients
The beef should be washed clean, drained, and cut into bite-sized cubes. Note that when preparing beef, to avoid losing its quality, you can use a clean, damp cloth to wipe the piece of beef once or eliminate any odor by rubbing it with grated ginger (after roasting the ginger) and rinsing it with clean water.
Wash the celery and chop it into small cubes. Dice 1/3 of the onion, and cut the remaining part into cubes. Wash the grapes, drain them, and cut them in half lengthwise.
-
Marinate and stir-fry the beef
Take the cut beef and marinate it with 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 tablespoon of seasoning, 1/2 teaspoon of pepper, and a little salt, adding 1/2 tablespoon of soy sauce for extra aroma. Mix the ingredients well and marinate for 5 – 10 minutes.
Heat a pan on the stove, add 1 tablespoon of cooking oil and wait until hot, or you can replace the cooking oil with butter for a more fragrant dish. When the oil is hot, add the celery and diced onion that you chopped earlier and stir well. Once the celery and onion are fragrant, add the marinated beef and stir for about 7 minutes over medium heat until the beef is tender.
Continue to add 3 tablespoons of ketchup and stir well with the beef for a more visually appealing dish, stir for another 3 – 5 minutes until the beef is cooked.

Beef stew with grapes
The beef is simmered, add 1 liter of water to braise the meat for about 30 – 40 minutes. Then, add diced onion and stir for about 2 – 3 minutes until the onion is cooked, then add the halved grapes and cook for another 5 minutes, be careful not to cook too long to avoid the grapes getting mushy.
Finally, adjust the seasoning to suit your and your family’s taste, then turn off the heat.
