How to choose fresh ingredients
How to choose fresh lemons
- When buying lemons, you should choose those that have a light, characteristic aroma.
- In addition, you should choose lemons with smooth, shiny skin, round and firm without any rough spots.
- Avoid buying lemons that have a strong, unpleasant smell, as these fruits are spoiled.
How to choose fresh lemongrass
- Good lemongrass will have a thick, round stalk that feels heavy and firm when picked up. The lemongrass leaves should be fresh and bright green.
- Moreover, you should prioritize buying Java lemongrass with slightly purple-pink stalks to enhance the flavor of our lemon grass tea.
- Avoid choosing lemongrass stalks that have speckled interiors, and whose leaves are dry and show signs of wilting.
How to make Lemongrass Tangerine Tea
-
Prepare the ingredients
After purchasing lemongrass, peel off the outer layer and then wash it thoroughly to remove any dirt.
Next, cut the lemongrass into pieces about the length of a finger, then use a knife to crush the lemongrass so that when brewing the tea, it will release more fragrance and nutrients.
As for the tangerine, just remove the stem, wash it clean, squeeze it through a strainer to extract the juice and discard the seeds. Finally, slice the remaining fruit into thin pieces for decoration.
-
Soak the tea
Boil 500ml of water in a bowl with 1 tea bag and soak it for about 5 – 10 minutes, allowing the tea to infuse until the water turns a deep yellow, then use a spoon to remove the tea bag.
Tip: To boil water faster, you can use a electric kettle. -
Cook lemongrass syrup
Place a pot on the gas stove, then add 500ml of filtered water, 200gr of sugar, and crushed lemongrass. Cook over medium heat for about 5 minutes until the sugar is completely dissolved and the lemongrass turns light yellow, then reduce to low heat and cook for another 2 – 3 minutes until the syrup thickens before turning off the heat.
Finally, you just need to use a strainer to remove the lemongrass to obtain the lemongrass syrup mixture.
-
Make lemongrass lime tea
Pour 100ml of brewed tea into a cup that has been prepared, then add 50ml of the mixture of syrup made from lemongrass that you just cooked.
Next, add 2 spoons of lime juice, stir gently, and then add ice cubes. Finally, decorate the cup with lemongrass and a few thin slices of lime, and you’re done.
Tip: To make the lemongrass lime tea more to your taste, you can adjust the amount of sugar according to your preference. -
Final product
The lemongrass lime tea will have an attractive sweet and sour taste, with the fragrant aroma of lemongrass that is incredibly enticing. This will surely be a wonderful refreshing drink that your whole family will love!
