How to choose good jackfruit without chemicals
- To buy good jackfruit without chemicals, pay attention to choosing jackfruit with a soft body, large eyes, non-sharp and sparse thorns, and the characteristic aroma of ripe jackfruit.
- You should choose round jackfruits that are not too deformed, because the indented areas around the waist of the jackfruit are often prone to pests and have a lot of tough fibers.
- You should not choose jackfruits with hard, thick thorns, small non-blooming eyes, and still green on the outside because these are jackfruits that have been artificially ripened with chemicals.
- Additionally, do not buy jackfruits with white sap oozing from the flesh, as they may have been soaked in chemicals.

How to make sun-dried jackfruit
-
Separate jackfruit sections
First, cut the jackfruit in half and then continue to cut it into 4 parts. Next, use the knife to remove the white core of the jackfruit.
Then, use your hands to separate each jackfruit section, making a vertical cut along the section and removing the seeds.
Put the seedless jackfruit into a bowl of water mixed with 1 teaspoon of salt and a little vinegar, and soak the jackfruit for about 5 minutes to wash away any remaining sap.
Note:- To avoid the knife and hands getting sticky with jackfruit sap, you should rub a little cooking oil on the knife and your hands before cutting the jackfruit, making it easier to clean the sap later.
- You should also lay down some newspaper on the floor before cutting the jackfruit to prevent sap from sticking to the floor!
-
Drying jackfruit
After soaking, take the jackfruit out and let it drain. Next, arrange the jackfruit on a tray or bamboo basket.
Bring the jackfruit out into the sun and dry it for about 3 sunny days (2 days if it’s very sunny) to complete the process.
Tip:- You should choose sunny days to dry the jackfruit, as it will dry faster and the final product will be tastier!
- You should only dry the jackfruit during the day and not leave it outside overnight, as the night dew can make the jackfruit soften again.
-
Final product
Unlike jackfruit dried in an oven, sun-dried jackfruit retains its chewy softness, and when bitten into, it is not hard but chewy and fragrant, with a sweet taste. This is indeed a perfect snack to enjoy while chatting with friends, isn’t it?
Tips for preserving sun-dried jackfruit for a long time
- You can store the sun-dried jackfruit in a glass jar or zip bag, keeping it in a dry and cool place for about a week.
- However, to ensure the flavor of the dish does not change much, you should eat it as soon as possible!
