How to Prepare Shrimp with Mayonnaise Sauce

  • Prepare the Shrimp

    Wash the shrimp thoroughly, then peel off the shell and cut off the head. Use your hands to separate the bottom shell of the shrimp to the sides.

    Cut the shrimp body in half lengthwise and use a knife to pull out the black vein on the shrimp’s back.

    Quick Way to Remove Shrimp Vein

    • To remove the shrimp vein, hold the shrimp shell in place with a toothpick. Count backward from the shrimp’s tail to the second groove connecting the two segments of the shell; use a toothpick to pierce through the shrimp body at the second segment from the tail and pull it out.
    • You can also take out the black vein after peeling the shell using a toothpick. Wash the shrimp clean. Remove the head and peel the shrimp from the legs toward the head. Use two fingers to hold the tail tightly and quickly pull the shrimp body out. Use a toothpick to remove the vein at the top of the shrimp body and gently pull it out.

  • Marinate the Shrimp

    After preparing the shrimp, marinate it with 1/4 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of pepper, mix well, and let it marinate for 15 minutes.

  • Batter and fry the shrimp

    Mix 150g of all-purpose flour with 100ml of water until the flour is combined with the water and thickens.

    Then, place a pan on the stove, add 1/2 liter of cooking oil, when the oil is hot, dip the shrimp in the batter and drop the shrimp into the oil to fry until golden for about 10 – 15 minutes over medium heat. When the shrimp is cooked, remove and let drain excess oil.

    Fresh shrimp should be washed clean, then peeled and the heads removed. Next, make a slit along the back and remove the dark vein, then let them drain.

  • Marinate shrimp

    Add all the shrimp to a bowl along with the seasoning mixture including: 1/4 spoon of salt, 1/2 spoon of monosodium glutamate, 1/2 spoon of ground pepper, then mix well. Marinate the shrimp for about 15 minutes to absorb the seasoning.
