Ingredients for Yellow Lemon Syrup For 1 bottle

Lemon 7 fruits (large) Sugar 200 gr Filtered water 250 ml Ground cardamom 1/4 teaspoon (if available)

How to choose fresh yellow lemons

  • When buying yellow lemons, you should pay attention to the color of the lemon skin; a bright, even yellow with smooth skin indicates fresh and juicy lemons.
  • Smell the lemon; if it has a light, fragrant scent, it is fresh. If the smell is too strong or unpleasant, the lemon may be spoiled or treated with chemicals.
  • If the lemon feels heavy in your hand, it means it has a lot of juice, so you should buy it. A light lemon or a very small one may not be ripe, have little juice, and the juice will taste bitter.
  • Avoid buying lemons that have a dull yellow color, rough skin, or black spots on the skin.

    Wash the lemons thoroughly with water and let them dry. Use a knife to cut the lemons in half and squeeze out about 120ml of lemon juice.

  • Cooking Lemon Syrup

    Boil a pot of water with 200g of sugar and 250ml of filtered water. Wait until the mixture boils, then you can add 1/4 teaspoon of cardamom powder (optional). Stir the mixture until the sugar is completely dissolved.

    Cook until the syrup mixture bubbles, then turn off the heat. The syrup should not be too thick or too thin, and should have an off-white color rather than completely orange.

    Tip: To check if the mixture has reached the syrup’s consistency, use a spoon to scoop some of the mixture, let it cool slightly, then touch it with your fingers. If the syrup can be stretched into strands, then it has reached the desired consistency.

    Strain the cooked syrup mixture through a strainer to remove any remaining sugar residue. Continue to add the prepared lemon juice and stir the syrup well with a spoon.

    Let the lemon syrup cool down, then store it in a glass container for better preservation.
