How to choose fresh ingredients

How to choose fresh strawberries

  • Good strawberries are heart-shaped, red, plump, and still have intact stems and green caps.
  • It’s best to buy strawberries that have a natural fragrance; when picked up, they feel firm and sweet.
  • Avoid choosing dull-colored, bruised, or rotten strawberries. Additionally, you should not buy strawberries with many spots on the skin, as these will not ripen after being picked.
  • Do not buy overripe strawberries because the inside may be dry and hollow.

How to choose fresh and delicious kiwi

  • Choose kiwi fruits that feel soft at the stem when touched; these are ripe, sweet, and fragrant. In contrast, unripe kiwi will have a hard stem and will taste sour when eaten.
  • It is advisable to select large, round fruits with smooth skin that are not cracked or scratched, and have plenty of fine hairs on the outside.
  • Avoid purchasing kiwis that are overly soft, bruised, misshapen, show signs of insect bites, or have unusual colors.

How to choose fresh and delicious lemons

  • Choose lemons that are bright yellow, with thin, smooth, and shiny skin, free from roughness or blemishes, and without mold, as they will have a higher vitamin content than others.
  • It is best to select lemons of moderate size, not too small or too large, and when held, they should feel heavy because those lemons contain more juice, are fresher, and of better quality.
  • Fresh lemons will have a light, characteristic lemon scent, while lemons that smell strong, pungent, or unpleasant contain chemicals and were sprayed before the odor could dissipate when brought to market.

  • Additionally, you can also make mashed taro at home using TasteVN’s recipe.
