Prepare and marinate the shrimp
First, with 6 shrimp that you have bought, wash them directly under running water to clean them, then drain. Next, use your hands to peel the shell from the body of the shrimp, while also removing the black string.
Then, place the shrimp on a plate and marinate with 1 teaspoon of seasoning, 1/2 teaspoon of monosodium glutamate, and 1/2 teaspoon of ground pepper, mix well, and let the shrimp absorb the seasoning for about 15 minutes.
Quick way to remove the shrimp’s black string
- Count backward from the tail of the shrimp to the second groove between the two shell segments, insert a toothpick through this spot and gently pull the black string out.
- You don’t need to use a knife to cut the back of the shrimp; you can also use a toothpick to poke out the head part of the shrimp’s body to find the black string. Gently pull this black string out, and the shrimp will be clean.

Prepare potatoes
For the potatoes, you use a peeler to peel the skin, and soak them in a bowl of diluted saltwater. Next, rinse with clean water, drain, and then use the peeler to shred them into thin strips.

Then, dip the marinated shrimp into the beaten egg bowl, while spreading an adequate amount of potatoes evenly on your hand, then place the shrimp and a little potato on top, using your hands to gently squeeze and press so that the potatoes stick evenly onto the shrimp meat.

Fried shrimp
Next, place a pan on the stove with 300ml of cooking oil over high heat. When the oil is hot, reduce to medium heat and add the shrimp you just coated to fry for 5 – 7 minutes.
When the shrimp and potatoes are golden on both sides, turn off the heat, remove the shrimp to a plate to drain the oil, and enjoy right away!
