-
Prepare chicken wings
Wash the chicken wings with clean water. Next, pour 2 liters of hot water into a bowl, mix with 2 tablespoons of salt.
Soak the chicken wings in the hot salted water for about 5 minutes, then use a knife to scrape off any dirt and fat residue on the chicken skin. After that, rinse with clean water, drain, and use a fork or knife to pierce the chicken meat to help it absorb the seasoning better.
How to clean chicken wings and eliminate odor:
- After rubbing with salt, you can use a mixture of rice wine and sliced, smashed ginger to rub and knead the entire chicken wing once more, which helps to completely eliminate the odor and dirt.
- Alternatively, you can add lemon to the water and soak the chicken wings for 15 – 20 minutes. After that, remove and rinse with cold water and let drain.
-
Marinate the chicken wings
Marinate the chicken wings with 2 teaspoons of minced garlic, 1 teaspoon of minced shallots, 1 teaspoon of seasoning powder, 1 teaspoon of sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of ginger powder, 1 teaspoon of five-spice powder, and 2 teaspoons of annatto oil.
Stir and mix well for the chicken to absorb the spices, then let it marinate for 1 – 2 hours.
-
Grill the chicken wings
Preheat the air fryer to 180 degrees Celsius for 15 minutes.
Line the air fryer with parchment paper and place the chicken inside, then grill the chicken at 180 degrees Celsius for about 7 minutes. After that, take out the tray, flip the chicken, and grill for another 8 minutes before taking the chicken out and serving it on a plate.

Notes when using an air fryer to roast chicken
- You should brush oil on the bottom of the air fryer before placing the marinated chicken in.
- When placing the chicken in the fryer basket, you should set the temperature to a moderate level so that the chicken cooks more evenly.
- When placing the chicken in the frying basket, do not exceed the “MAX” level as the chicken may not cook evenly.
- After cooking, you should wait a moment for the hot air to dissipate before removing the basket. Additionally, if the food is cooked before the preset time, you can manually turn off the fryer by adjusting the timer knob to 0.
- It is advisable to choose air fryers with large and diverse capacities such as Lock&Lock air fryer, BlueStone, Tefal,…
