Chicken wings 500 gr Minced garlic 2 teaspoons Minced shallots 1 teaspoon Ginger powder 1/2 teaspoon Five-spice powder 1 teaspoon Annatto oil 2 teaspoons Common seasoning a little (seasoning/ sugar/ salt)

How to choose fresh and delicious chicken wings

  • For grilled wings, you can choose to buy industrial chicken wings or local chicken wings. Industrial wings will have more meat, while local wings will be chewier and tastier when cooked.
  • Choose wings that have a natural light yellow color, press to feel the meat is firm and elastic.
  • For pre-processed and packaged wings, be sure to carefully check the information on the packaging regarding the origin and expiration date of the product.
  • Do not buy wings with bruises, blood clots, uneven colors, unpleasant odors, or soft and mushy meat.

How to prepare Grilled chicken wings with five-spice powder using an air fryer

  • Prepare chicken wings

    Wash the chicken wings with clean water. Next, pour 2 liters of hot water into a bowl, mix with 2 tablespoons of salt.

    Soak the chicken wings in the hot salted water for about 5 minutes, then use a knife to scrape off any dirt and fat residue on the chicken skin. After that, rinse with clean water, drain, and use a fork or knife to pierce the chicken meat to help it absorb the seasoning better.

    How to clean chicken wings and eliminate odor:

    • After rubbing with salt, you can use a mixture of rice wine and sliced, smashed ginger to rub and knead the entire chicken wing once more, which helps to completely eliminate the odor and dirt.
    • Alternatively, you can add lemon to the water and soak the chicken wings for 15 – 20 minutes. After that, remove and rinse with cold water and let drain.

    Preheat the air fryer to 180 degrees Celsius for 15 minutes.

    Line the air fryer with parchment paper and place the chicken inside, then grill the chicken at 180 degrees Celsius for about 7 minutes. After that, take out the tray, flip the chicken, and grill for another 8 minutes before taking the chicken out and serving it on a plate.

    Tip: If you don’t have an air fryer, you can also use a oven to grill the chicken at 200 degrees Celsius for about 20 minutes.
