How to choose purple taro

  • Good taro has a medium or large size. The inside will have a deep purple color, while if you see a pale color, it indicates that the taro is not good.
  • Additionally, the taro with a lot of starch has many eyes on its body, which is better. At the same time, the skin should be rough, with horizontal veins, and have many roots and dirt still clinging to the skin.
  • Avoid buying taro that has too few or no eyes, and has very smooth skin as these are signs that the taro is likely to be fibrous and bland.

How to make Sweet potato smoothie, taro

  • Prepare and boil sweet potatoes

    Wash the sweet potatoes 2 – 3 times in water to remove all the dirt stuck to the skin, then take them out.

    Next, place a pot on the stove with 700ml of water, 500g of prepared sweet potatoes, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt and boil over medium heat for 15 minutes.

    When you see the pot emitting heat, reduce the heat to low and continue boiling for another 10 minutes until the sweet potatoes are cooked, then turn off the heat and transfer them to a bowl to cool and peel.

    Continue using the same bowl to mash the sweet potatoes by pressing gently with a spoon until they become fluffy.

    • Depending on your taste, if you want it sweeter, you can use sweetened fresh milk instead.
    • For the purple taro juice, you can use instant powder or taro-flavored vanilla, mixed in a ratio of 1 part powder to 2 parts water to get the juice!
